Hurricane Storage

Hurricane Haulout

When a hurricane threatens, most people will agree that the safest place for your boat to be is out of the water, safely stored on land. Over the years, Town Creek Marina has created a Hurricane Storage Program that enables boat owners to plan ahead and secure a location where their boat can be stored without the panic that accompanies an unpredictable storm bearing down on our area. The program is available to Town Creek Marina slip owners as well as customers leasing wet slips or lift slips at the marina during hurricane season (June 1 to November 30), as space permits.

Town Creek Marina’s Hurricane Policy requires that all boats must be evacuated from our slips if a Hurricane Watch or Hurricane Warning is declared for Carteret County by the National Weather Service and we will begin hauling boats at that time. As vessels are stored in our boat yard as well as the parking lot, dry dock space is limited. Boat owners electing not to participate in the program must remove their boats at this time as well.

In addition, if there are no named storms in a program year that require boats to be hauled, the program fee will roll over to the next year’s hurricane season, and the next, until either the end of a program period in which a storm occurs, or you no longer have a slip at the marina.

Boat owners are not required to be at the marina at the time their boat is hauled. Haul out order will be determined by travel-lift strap configuration and available on land storage space given the sizes of the boats participating. If, for any reason, a boat owner elects to skip their scheduled haul out, their position is forfeited.
